The first is at 11am on Saturday, November 20th - Mudhouse Downtown. The second will be at 11am on Saturday, December 4th, also at Mudhouse Downtown. Our Tea Tastings are free and expect them to last an hour and a half to two hours. Please signup by emailing me at rob@mudhousecoffee.com, or by putting your name on the attendee list located in our Downtown store. Space is limited, so please don't forget to sign up. A fun and informative time for all.

On another note, our Pumpkin Spice Black tea is now available. This tea has the perfect amount of real pumpkin bits and natural flavors. It seems to be especially tasty with just a touch of cream and sugar. MudLove.

More current Research on Health Benefits of Tea.

The studies on the health benefits of tea continue to point at just how good tea is for you. According to a 2010 study in Preventive Medicine, researchers in Japan studied the drinking habits of some 25,000 adults and concluded that those who drank at least a cup of green tea a day had a lower risk of tooth loss, compared to those who drank none. The reason? Antioxidants knows as catechins can kill the mouth bacteria associated with gum disease and tooth decay. But not only does this same mouth bacteria cause tooth loss, but studies have shown that it is also bad for the heart. So perhaps this helps explain why tea drinks have a lower incidence of heart disease. Stay tuned.

I have a new beverage of choice.

I have a new beverage of choice. In fact, I have had many since Mudhouse opened eleven years ago. There has been, and always will be, coffee of course. Kyle does such a great job roasting that it is always a treat to taste what is being featured each day. Sometimes that first cup will help dictate how smooth my day will run. I know a great day is before me with Kenya AA or Best of Africa is featured. Then green tea became my beverage of choice. What has been fun about green tea is there are so many varieties and tastes to experience. Whether it is delicate earthiness of Spring Blossom or the nuttiness of Genmai-cha, so many different tastes come from such an abundant bush. Then along came my Rooibos addiction. That little South African bush can brew a great beverage. And blending it with dried fruits and other herbs to create different blends really excites me. Who would have thought ginger and Rooibos would be so awesome together. Then last week, I re-discovered this great herb grown in South America – Yerba Mate.
